Cornerstone Africa Energy Ltd. (CAEL) management and directors have more than 75 years of combined operating experience in Africa. Much of the management team at CAEL have worked together for a number of years, providing and sourcing seed financing, building government relations, evaluating and bidding on concessions in Africa, and putting assets into production.
Ian Horswill has 32 years of experience as a professional engineer in the petroleum industry in executive roles encompassing business development, project management, corporate financing, and oil and gas operations in international and domestic arenas. He has a track record of value added acquisition, exploration and development projects which has proven successful for his shareholders and companies alike.
Over the past twenty years, Ian has been in senior management of four successful energy companies in Africa and South America. His African focus included working on projects in Algeria, Gabon and Central West Africa, Mozambique, Tunisia and Tanzania. Prior to founding Cornerstone, Ian was the Chief Operating Officer and Board member of Oslo-listed Artumas Group Inc. from 2002 to 2007. His team discovered 2+ Tcf of gas and developed an innovative gas to power project in Tanzania, and an oil and gas exploration project in Mozambique. Artumas was awarded the Rovuma Onshore Area for development in Tanzania. From 1998 – 2000 Mr. Horswill was Managing Director of Operations and Engineering for First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. Prior to First Calgary, he worked with Pacalta Resources in Ecuador.
Mr. Horswill holds a B.SC. (Honors) in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and is a member of APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta).
Jerry Brix has over 30 years of extensive petroleum engineering and project management in both domestic and international exploration and development projects with Gulf Oil/Chevron (1977 – 1996), Momentum Energy (1996 – 2002), Cirrus Energy (2002 – 2005) and most recently with Artumas Group (2005 – 2009). In the past 25 years he has worked and resided in Africa, including the countries of Mozambique, Tanzania, Angola, Libya, Nigeria, Botswana and Egypt. Jerry’s responsibilities have included executing exploration and development projects, long–range planning and budgets and developing business and engineering processes that improve economic and operational efficiencies. His technical expertise includes onshore and offshore seismic operations, drilling and completions, reserves management and reservoir development, oil and gas facilities construction, project and joint venture management. Jerry is a successful user of leading technologies in seismic, reservoir and drilling including using transition zone seismic, surface geochemistry, casing-while-drilling and modular facilities construction.
Jerry holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a member of APEGGA (Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers
Ross McCullough has 31 years in international exploration and production oil and gas operations. For the last 20 years Ross has focused on Africa, in particular the rifted basins of West and North Africa. Ross has worked with Amoco, Sasol, Zuetina (Libya) and Nexen. Ross was involved with the Foukanda and Djambala discoveries in Congo Brazzaville which had resource estimates exceeding 80 MMBO. He was also involved in Gabon with the Etame Marin exploration well which led to the successful exploration and development of the Etame field resulting in the discovery of +23 MMBOE reserves.
Ross holds a BSc. in Geology from University of Calgary.
Igor Nguia is a highly experienced Gabonese petroleum engineer. Igor previously held the positions of Upstream Technical Director and Downstream Managing Director at the national oil company, GOC. Prior to GOC, Igor worked for Vaalco Energy in Gabon as a Production Supervisor - offshore Gabon.
Dr. Vieira holds a PhD in Petroleum Geology & Geophysics from University of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK.He has 25 years of experience in the energy industry principally in exploration and operations in Mozambique. As Dean of Science and Head of Applied Geology at the University Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo he was the lead in setting up two Research Centers in Mozambique for east Africa studies. Dr Viera’s studies of Rovuma Basin led to major offshore discovery. As Deputy Country Manager for Artumas Mozambique Petroleos, Lda, Dr. Vieira was a founding member and Chairman (2008-2009) of the Associação Moçambicana de Operadores Petrolíferos Internacionais (AMOPI) in Mozambique. In 2010, Dr. Vieira assumed the role as chairman of the Associação Moçambicana de Operadores Petrolíferos Internacionais (AMOPI) in Mozambique. To add to his responsibilities Dr. Vieira has been invited by ENH to join the steering committee for the Linkar project.
